We have just been to site in the rainy August weather. It is looking rather...pink! See for yourself below...

The new extension looking back towards the house. Yet to be plastered!- the pink plasterboard signifies that it is fire resistant. There will also be an area of glazed roof above the door you can see in the photo.

Again, looking towards the house- this is where the kitchen will be.

Within the basement- the boiler and the complicated series of pipes surrounding it (mostly for the underfloor heating).

Getting there!

Work has been progressing and the house is now taking shape. With the floors in we can understand the size of the new extension and the effect of the glazed roof to the rear. Upstairs the rooms are being plastered which helps us to understand the way the house will feel when it is finished.

Take a look for yourself below, here are some photos from July...

Big Changes

We have been very busy in the office and therefore this post has been a long time coming! There have been some big changes on site -  most notibly with the extension which is taking shape day by day.

Here are some photos from the last week in June:

Towards the new kitchen/dining area, widening and lengthening the existing kitchen with a side and rear extension (and some impressive steels!).

Impressive Steelwork

We have been on site today to find the steels in position and the walls of the extension being built. This allows us to understand the size of the new kitchen (pretty big) and also its profile. Most people do not believe that steel system will really hold up the house! See for yourself below...

The corner of the house supported by the column and the cranked beam (yes really!)

How it is done - the view from the other side

A closer view of the cranking system which allows us to support the house in this way

Not forgetting the rest of the house which is being completely refurbished. These are the rooms above the kitchen which have been completely gutted and changed!

More shots from site...

Over the past two weeks the steels have been brought to site and are now in place. They are cranked to allow a pitched roof to the new extension whilst supporting the existing house where we have removed walls to make an open plan kitchen and living area. This cranking causes a bit of a headache for those on site as it means they are a lot harder to install...

Just back from site...

We have just got back from a site visit with Chris and Jenny, the owners, and Mike, the builder who can never remember my name! Progress on site is good and the clients are very pleased.

Here are some recent shots...

The solar panels are complete!

We have recessed the solar panels into the roof to lessen their impact and also. Here are some shots out of the top window showing the progression on site:

Project History

The clients had bought the house recently and intend to live in it once the work is completed. Planning was granted in December 2010.

Here is a photo of the exsiting property...

And here is our exsiting and proposed views of the house...
